FAQ
What is composite decking?
Cork composite decking is a blend of recycled wood and plastic that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. Today's composite decking offers exceptional durability, resilience, and performance that you can't get from pure wood. It doesn't split, chip, warp, shrink, or rot – perfect for withstanding the elements! Kind to bare feet, it won't splinter and is slip resistant, unlike wet wood. Better yet, cork composite is already popular with homeowners, restaurants, hotels, and leisure centres who choose to use it as a sustainable decking solution.
How long does composite last?
Composite decking is by nature strong and durable. You can expect it to last for many years with minimal upkeep. All cork composite products come with a 25 year limited warranty for residential applications and a 10 year warranty for commercial applications.
Is cork composite suitable for both residential and commercial applications?
Yes! Cork composite decking is fit for both residential and commercial use. Though, we have noticed some of our products may be better suited for certain environments. If you'd like more insight on what would be best for you, please contact us on our contact page.
Is composite expensive?
No, not at all. Though the upfront cost may be higher than traditional wood, the money you will save on upkeep will save you thousands of dollars long term. You'll never have to face the costs of repairing a deck that is rotting, splitting, or warped.
How are Cork Composite products delivered?
The majority of orders are delivered with a long wheel van by a dedicated member of our Cork Composite delivery team. For larger deliveries, we tend to select a more suitable heavy goods vehicle with a higher weight capacity. Our logistics team always contact customers ahead of delivery to run through the in's and out's of delivery - we will never just turn up unannounced!
Can I collect decking from the warehouse or manufacturing facility?
Not at this time. All of our products must be delivered by one of our team members.
How long can I expect delivery to take?
Generally, after an order is fulfilled, complete delivery is expected within 3-5 working days.
Is composite easy to install?
Yes! As mentioned on our product page, our quick clip technology allows each panel to be installed in mere minutes. Better yet, each clip is made of a commercial-grade stainless steel and guaranteed to last longer than the boards themselves.
Are composite boards reversible?
Absolutely! Every one of our boards come with a fully reversible finish. This allows you to choose between an embossed, textured woodgrain finish and a sleek, grooved finish.
Are the panels slippery?
Not at all. Composite boards are engineered with safety in mind and we consistently improve the slip resistance of our panels. Generally, slip resistance depends on the decking type and material that you choose.
Will composite boards get hot in direct sunlight?
Both composite and wood decking heat at similar rates. You shouldn't expect cork composite to perform any warmer than traditional lumber. If you're worried about heat, we recommend using a lighter tone of composite. You can see our available options on our products page.
Does fading occur in an outdoor environment?
All of our composite decking continues to be more fade resistant than traditional wooden decking. Furthermore, in our second generation product line, our capped composite decking has yet another protective shell coating which provides far superior fade and stain resistance.
Can I paint or stain my cork composite boards?
We strongly advise that customers avoid painting or staining any cork composite products. Our products are designed to be a low maintenance alternative to timber decking and traditional staining or painting solutions will not bond with our products. Our boards are manufactured such that the colour will stay largely consistent throughout their lifespan.
How do I clean cork composite decking?
Our entire selection of cork composite decking is very easy to maintain. A routine clean consists of using soap, warm water, and a soft bristle brush. For a deeper clean, a pressure washer can be used with minimal as long as the PSI < 3100. We found that biannual cleanings are usually enough to keep your deck looking excellent for years to come.
Can I sand my cork composite boards?
We do not advise that you sand our capped composite deck boards. The protective polymer shell of the product will be damaged beyond repair. Furthermore, doing so voids the product's 25 year warranty.
Can I pressure wash my cork composite panels?
Yes. However, to prevent damage, it is advised you use a pressure washer that is rated for 3100 PSI or less.
